Description Job Overview/Summary: The Employment Specialist is responsible for managing the provision of services to assist newly arrived refugee clients to attain self:sufficiency through employment. Specifically, the Employment Specialist ensures services that include employment preparation, job placement, career enhancement and follow:up. This position reports directly to the Site Manager. Major Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Provide intake, assessment, and pre:employment/job readiness orientation to clients eligible for employment services. Develop comprehensive employment plans for each employable adult. Individually assist clients in development of a professional resume and cover letter that highlights their marketable skills and experience. Monitor job search activity to ensure that clients are complying with Employment Services Program policies, and making sufficient employer contacts. Ensure that client job portfolios are prepared with correct documents and monitor client progress through professional development checklists. Develop and cultivate long term relationships with area employers in order to identify appropriate employment opportunities for clients. Determine specific employment opportunities appropriate to clients and assist clients in accessing these opportunities by guiding them through the hiring process. Monitor job performance, wage level, and employer/employee satisfaction. Assist clients and employers as necessary with post placement issues and continuing employment needs. Ensuring timely and accurate compliance to all reporting requirements. Other related duties as assigned. Key Working Relationships: Position Reports to: Site Manager Position directly supervises: Resettlement interns and volunteers. Other Internal and/or external contacts: Internal: Employment Specialist will develop working relationships with internal direct service staff to support achievement of resettlement goals. . External: Employment Specialist will develop working relationships with Leon County Social Service Agencies, employers, and employment programs to support achievement of program requirements. Job Requirements: Undergraduate degree strongly preferred. Comparable related work experience may be substituted. 2+ years related professional work experience. Demonstrated experience with the US job search process and the ability to effectively coach clients through the nuanced process of securing employment. Firsthand knowledge of the Tallahassee employment market strongly preferred Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English. Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); Database experience strongly preferred Valid drivers license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area. Language Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English; Fluency in additional language relevant to current refugee populations preferred (Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Tigrinya, Burmese, Spanish, Amharic, Swahili etc.) Working Environment: Standard office work environment combined with travel in and around the service delivery area.
