Job Description:
SCOPE:
This position is an integral component of the Process Engineering team. Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, the Process Engineering team is tasked with driving development and improvement initiatives for the manufacturing and technology segments of the business.
Specifically, this position is primarily focused on executing the fabrication and testing phases of manufacturing and technology related research and development projects. There will be a strong focus on methodical and thoughtful work with continual two:way communication with Engineering.
A secondary responsibility of this position is assisting the production department in the manufacture of select high capacity products.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and Development
Cut, prep, glue/infuse, cure, and assemble test cable assemblies per provided specifications
Test cables per specifications using tensile beds, specialty tools, and measuring devices
Communicate status and results of work to Engineers
Use PC software to assist with testing as well as manufacturing of test cables
Work with Engineering to develop best practices for research and development work
High Capacity System Production
Follow pre:defined instructions to build high capacity products to specifications
Understand and adhere to established quality standards
Adhere to relevant ISOxxxx procedures for production
General:
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Provide required support for ISO xxxx:xxxx and other quality requirements.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to thrive in a very dynamic work setting.
Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience is required.
Experience with MS Office (Word and Excel).
Self:initiated.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL PREFERENCES:
Six sigma green belt / black belt.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, including 5S principles.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and facilitation skills.
Hands:on fabrication experience : machine shop and hand tools.
Results oriented that can drive the necessary activities to meet goals.
Clear thinker: simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information and communicating priorities clearly and concisely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a non:climate controlled environment when necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primary : climate controlled.
Secondary : un:climate controlled factory floor and machine shop.
