Position Summary:
Provide leadership and direction to employees to attain short: and long:term goals, optimize team effectiveness, and meet daily work schedules in the Packaging and Processing Departments. Ensures safety, regulatory compliance, morale, and cost control. Develop a team relationship with all other functional leaders and share all assets and people. Achieve departmental goals and metrics by managing crew, productivity, material usage, product quality (yield), and equipment utilization.
Responsibilities:
:
Ensure employees perform work according to established safety rules and practices, environmental and housekeeping standards while striving for ZERO Accidents.
:
Understands customer quality requirements, assures teammates understand and follow these requirements. Work with QA on process capabilities.
:
Develops implements and assures procedures are followed to detect and eliminate non:conforming incoming supplies.
:
Develops implements and assures procedures are followed for the processing operations.
:
Coordinate purchase of supplies necessary to insure functioning of packaging department.
:
Coordinate with Processing Supervisor to insure clay supply for packaging operations.
:
Supervise, train and develop, and review packaging and processing staff
:
Develop general staffing, operational, and capital plans for the plant. Schedule staff.
:
Plans packaging and loading operations, establishing priorities and sequences for packaging products.
:
Communicate key metrics to Plant Manager and production teams in order to stimulate process improvement and cost reduction.
:
Arrange for equipment inspections as necessary; coordinate maintenance activities to meet established preventative maintenance goals.
:
Develop and maintain procedure manual and training aids.
:
Gather and analyze data; make and implement recommendations for process improvements and cost reductions.
:
Increase line efficiencies along with crew efficiencies, and maximize daily processing and packaging production and achieve all drop rates.
:
Complete required reporting and documentation.
:
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
:
HS Diploma or Equivalent
:
College degree in a Packaging Science, Operations or Engineering field
:
Minimum 5 years experience in a packaging environment
:
Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity
:
Experience in bulk material handling and packaging equipment and supplies
:
Proficient in spreadsheet development and word processing
:
Able to analyze problems and present workable solutions
:
Familiarity with MSHA (or OSHA) regulations and practices, desired
